On Sunday, May 4th, the Children of Red Bank UMC will be leading the worship
services and the Pastor will be preaching on "How We Must Become Like Children
to Enter the Kingdom of God"

Following the second service, everyone is invited to come to our first
Children's Ministry "Open House". This will be a time to look at what the
Children's Team has been doing, what they are planning to do, and what they
are praying for! On this day, the congregation is asked to bring to the
fellowship hall, if possible, gently used toys, books and puzzles from birth
through four years old to replenish our Nurseries. The Children's Ministry
Team will go through all the donations, and any over abundance will be taken
to LICS.

Sonshine Days Preschool will be participating in Children's Day, Sunday, May
4th, as well. They will join with the Children's Team on Children's Day to host
a Scholastic Book Fair, open to the entire church, that will last from May 4 - 7
in the Fellowship Hall. If you have any questions regarding the Book Fair,
please contact Angie Mootry at 356-8586.

Also on this day, the Christian Education Team will be hosting a Celebration
Breakfast for all of our High School and College graduates and their immediate
family members. The meal will be provided by the Alpha Sunday School class at
10am on the 4th in the Fellowship Hall. we wish to recognize the hard work,
dedication and fortitude of the amazing young people, who have persevered to
accomplish their goals and to wish them the best as they take the next step in
their journey!

On Sunday, May 11th, we will have a special time of appreciation for mothers and
other women who have helped raise us from childhood. The custom of honoring
mothers goes back at least as far as 17th-century England, which celebrated (and
still celebrates) Mothering Sunday. Mother's Day in the United States originated
in 1872 with Julia Ware Howe, a writer, abolitionist and suffragist who wrote the
words to "Battle Hymn of the Republic". IN 1911, President Woodrow Wilson made it
a national holiday. Whether someone gave birth to a child or not, it is the heart
of a woman that makes her a mother and we wish to recognize that special love.
After all, as William Ross Wallace once said, "The hand that rocks the cradle is
the hand that rules the world." Don't forget Mom!

On Tuesday, May 20th, the Sonshine Days Preschool here at RBUMC, will conduct
their graduation Ceremony at 6:30pm. Twelve students will be graduating and eleven
will be promoted to the next class. Following the ceremony, light refreshments will
be served in the Fellowship Hall to celebrate the graduates and students being
promoted.

                        Joy and Peace ~
                                        Rev. Tommy Wilkes

PS ~ Thanks to Terri Cole, the Children's Team, and the Kids-A-Flame for all their
hard work on the Children's Worship Day and thanks also, to Angie Mootry and the
Preschool Staff for their love and service through the Preschool to the children
and parents.
